Check Drive Health with Get-PhysicalDisk
Query health status, media type, and reliability counters (temperature, wear, errors) for every physical disk in PowerShell.
01Command
$ Get-PhysicalDisk | Select-Object FriendlyName, MediaType, HealthStatus, OperationalStatus, Size
Get-PhysicalDisk | Get-StorageReliabilityCounter | Select-Object DeviceId, Temperature, Wear, ReadErrorsTotal02What it does
HealthStatus returns Healthy, Warning, or Unhealthy — Warning usually means SMART has flagged a threshold, which is the early signal to replace the drive before failure. Get-StorageReliabilityCounter is the forgotten follow-up: piped from Get-PhysicalDisk it exposes drive temperature, Wear (SSD wear percentage), power-on hours, and read/write error totals that Disk Management never shows. These counters are what Windows' 'predicted failure' notifications are built on.
