List Windows Services That Start at Boot
Use Get-Service filtered on StartType to see every service set to Automatic.
01Command
$ Get-Service | Where-Object StartType -eq Automatic | Select-Object Name, DisplayName, Status02What it does
Everything set to Automatic launches at boot, which is why an ever-growing services list slows startup. Get-Service returns a ServiceController object per service, and its StartType property tells you the configured start mode; Where-Object filters down to just Automatic. Checking Status alongside shows which of them are actually running right now.

05Sources
- Get-ServiceEvidence: Get-Service returns ServiceController objects for all services (no arguments = every service), which can be piped to Where-Object for filtering by properties such as Status.
- ServiceController.StartType PropertyEvidence: Documents the StartType property of ServiceController objects (the type returned by Get-Service) and the ServiceStartType enumeration values Automatic, Manual and Disabled.
