Ping Continuously to Monitor Network Stability
Use ping -t to watch for dropped packets and latency spikes while you reproduce a Wi-Fi or internet problem.
01Command
$ ping -t 192.168.1.1 :: stop with Ctrl+C; fixed count: ping -n 20 example.com02What it does
A continuous ping is the simplest way to catch intermittent dropouts: leave it running while you walk around the house or reload a page, and any gap in the replies lines up with the outage. Pinging the router tests your local Wi-Fi link; pinging a public site adds the ISP path. The closing statistics show exact loss percentage and average latency.
